About the work
Deep blue, indigo and touches of plum fill the canvas. Across the top, pale strokes twist and break like churned water, and from there thin white threads trail downwards. Small luminous points and bubbles float in the darker water below, with a faint mesh texture in places.
Azul is Spanish for "blue". The Agua series paints water without fixed form, from waves to the seabed, and here the view seems to come from below the surface.
About the series
“Water has been with us from the beginning; we are water in motion. Its stillness is not absence, but attention.”
