About the work
La Ola is Spanish for "the wave". A single white wave curls and breaks near the centre, throwing a line of spray to the left. Above it, streaks of ultramarine run down the canvas, and below it the water churns in dark blue with pale veins of light.
The intense blues and moving water belong to Agua, where the sea never settles into a fixed form.
