About the work
Deep blue covers the whole canvas, which a vertical line divides into two halves. Lighter clouds of turquoise, white and ochre gather near the top, small striped oval shapes drift through the blue, and a large pale oval sits low on the right.
Mediterráneo is Spanish for "Mediterranean". At two metres square, the canvas holds water without a fixed form, closer to a seabed than a surface, as in the rest of Agua.
About the series
“Water has been with us from the beginning; we are water in motion. Its stillness is not absence, but attention.”
