About the work
From above, a crowd gathers in the left and lower parts of the canvas, each figure a quick dab of white with a dark shadow. The ground is a soft haze of olive, umber and grey. Dusty red marks and small curls of colour run through the crowd, and pale translucent circles float over it, one near the top edge.
In Stolen Time the crowd becomes a single collective body, gathering and spreading at once.
