About the work
Hundreds of tiny figures fill the canvas, each a white dot of a head over a small dark body. The ground is crusted and mottled, pale grey and rust in the upper half, sinking into plum and violet towards the bottom edge. A single dark, leaf-like shape sits among the crowd on the right.
In Stolen Time the body is always collective. Here the figures sit so close to the surface that they almost become part of its texture.
