About the work
Arena is Spanish for "sand". Loose figures ringed with yellow, black and white brushmarks cross a pale beige ground, gathering densely along the top edge and thinning out below. The lower left warms to a soft pink.
The space is more open than in the crowded canvases of Like a Rolling Stone, and the figures seem to move upward towards the dark band at the top.
About the series
“Movement, interconnected bodies, human structures that somehow make the spectator part of it. I work with layers of colour, like skin, looking for depth and almost always with ascendant movement.”
