About the work
Berpiztu is Basque for “to revive” or “come back to life”. The crowd here is dense and close, most figures in white shirts, seen from directly above against a mottled ground of grey, ochre and pale blue. Black and dark red bulls push through the bodies, and pale shapes appear along the lower edge.
The bulls of Like a Rolling Stone return, packed tightly into the crowd on this tall canvas.
About the series
“Movement, interconnected bodies, human structures that somehow make the spectator part of it. I work with layers of colour, like skin, looking for depth and almost always with ascendant movement.”
