About the work
Small white figures, each casting a dark trailing shadow, stream up the canvas from a dense base. The ground shifts from umber and plum at the bottom to misty grey and ochre above. Pale translucent circles, one very large near the top, sit among the figures, and three small red bull shapes move through the crowd.
The upward pull of Like a Rolling Stone is clear in this tall format, with the crowd thinning as it rises.
About the series
“Movement, interconnected bodies, human structures that somehow make the spectator part of it. I work with layers of colour, like skin, looking for depth and almost always with ascendant movement.”
Ima Montoya, artist statement, 2026
