About the work
A crowd seen from above fills the whole height of the canvas. The figures are tiny touches of white, ochre and rust over a smoky ground of grey and brown, densest through the centre. Translucent pale circles float among them, and a few black shapes that recall the bulls of the series sit on the left.
In Like a Rolling Stone the crowd usually rises. Here the tall format stretches that upward movement from bottom to top.
About the series
“Movement, interconnected bodies, human structures that somehow make the spectator part of it. I work with layers of colour, like skin, looking for depth and almost always with ascendant movement.”
Ima Montoya, artist statement, 2026
