About the work
A dark, almost black ground holds a broad vertical form of raised, pitted texture in grey, cream and rust, running from the top of the canvas to the bottom. Fine pale lines curl around it. On the left, faint clusters of lilac and white resemble small flowers.
The Secret Life of Plants is built from botanical tangles and floral growth. Here they stay at the edges, around a central form of thick, worn texture.
About the series
“I am interested in finding structures within things that initially appear to have none, structures that can give me a starting point from which to paint, experiment and continue.”
