About the work
Out of a dark, smoky ground, clusters of crimson, magenta and soft pink spread across the lower two thirds of the canvas. Small bright points flare within them, like flowers opening in shadow. The top of the canvas stays dark, in brown and plum.
In The Secret Life of Plants, floral growth multiplies across the surface. Here it happens quietly, as the title suggests.
About the series
“I am interested in finding structures within things that initially appear to have none, structures that can give me a starting point from which to paint, experiment and continue.”
