About the work
Long yellow and green strokes sweep diagonally across a dark ground of grey, olive and blue, like grasses bent in one direction. Small red and yellow dots, close to flower heads, are scattered through them, with a patch of orange near the centre. The paint is fluid and fast, and the whole surface seems to move.
The Secret Life of Plants grows out of botanical tangles. This one is green and gold rather than the deep reds and pinks seen elsewhere in the series.
About the series
“I am interested in finding structures within things that initially appear to have none, structures that can give me a starting point from which to paint, experiment and continue.”
