About the work
A smooth rust-brown area opens in the middle of the canvas, and thick, crusted textures radiate outward from it towards the edges. The raised surface catches the light in white, grey and dark brown, with small rings and touches of violet.
Within The Secret Life of Plants, its earth colours and heavy surface stand apart from the deep reds and pinks of the series.
About the series
“I am interested in finding structures within things that initially appear to have none, structures that can give me a starting point from which to paint, experiment and continue.”
